Is Google trying to quietly kill youtube? The interface has been slowly getting worse over the last few weeks. The new look is terrible, and a lot of features that were there have gone, or don't work properly.

I watched The Fly (1958) for halloween - I'm a few days late in releasing this, but that's OK. Better late than never.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that media piracy is back up. This was before all the recent controversy. There is a poetic irony to the whole thing if piracy ends up toppling streaming services.

Potential hot take: There are over 50 seasons of Star Trek, yet TOS season 1 is probably the best one by some margin. There is just one bad episode out of 30, and everything else is gold!

One thing I don't like about the movie Contact is how quickly things happen. Like they just start "listening" and bam! Aliens!
I take a look at and review The Listeners, a 1972 novel by James Gunn (not the filmmaker) about communicating with intelligent alien civilizations. This novel was a direct inspiration for Carl Sagan's Contact, which came out over a decade later.
