The three big transatlantic JVs have expanded choice (routes, flights, hubs, etc), as @briansumers.com noted, but the trade off has been fewer cheap fares.

Also, crazy stat from @crankyflier.com: transatlantic seats are up 75% (!!) since 2005.

When @theaircurrent.com was but a wee publication, we broke a huge story: It outlined how air traffic controllers had the legal authority call out sick. Those actions massively slowed some airports and ultimately ended the 2019 U.S. gov shutdown. Watch for a repeat. theaircurrent.com/aviation-saf...
Trump Administration memo opens door to mass sickout by ATC

Spirit Airlines has filed documents with the bankruptcy court to reject 87 (!!) aircraft leases — 19 A320ceos, 65 A320neos (71% of its 320neo fleet) and 3 A321neos.

That would leave the airline with just 127 planes (down from 214 in August) if approved.

- Will reject leases and return 27 Airbus planes to AerCap (the airline flew 215 planes at end-June)

It’s also not that simple. Knowing how to certify an aircraft again is a core competency that Boeing doesn’t have today and is trying to regain. That is step number one. Without that, nothing new is coming.

Not a dumb question at all. Every year SeaTac does a small gathering of aviation media/social folks for a spotting excursion. I'm really grateful to be included.

It’s what’s wrong with American, part 2: branding. @briansumers.com fav topic.

And yes, yes I do remember those Emmy-winning early 2000s United cartoon ads.
