Today we saw a group of Humpbacks aggressively disrupt the hunt of a pod of transient Orcas. The seagulls appeared to be cleaning up floating sea lion bits, so the Humpbacks were probably too late to fully effectuate any altruistic tendencies, but they tried. 🦑

My wife took this video of a boisterous bottlenose dolphin in Monterey Bay, CA. At the very end this lunatic breached parallel to the boat and actually brushed against my wife’s shoulder on the way back down. At that moment, it had to be at 10-12 feet in the air. A super rare encounter! 🦑

If you are a California voter be on the lookout for anti Prop 50 mailers like this one. I received one of these and It’s a trick that was created by Charles Munger Jr. and a bunch of others. Munger Jr. has spent $10 Million to defeat Prop 50 aka the Election Rigging Response Act.

When humpback whales spend time close to the boat, they behave with such gentleness that their awareness of their own power and their conscious effort not to impact us is obvious. It reminds me of pet videos where an enormous dog plays delicately with an infant. 🦑

We have a photographer friend who took pictures of a different whale breaching. He had a huge lens to really zoom in there. He said her eyes were open during every breach, so maybe you’re right!
