I am really proud to be part of a union that is standing up for all colleagues and their jobs. Our members are really special and we thank them for voting again and winning the ability to choose to take industrial action, if it comes to that.

Our members have voted to support industrial action to fight against job cuts passed today!

In the ballot our 72% of members were in favour of strike action, and 90% in favour of action short of strike. Turnout was 58%.

Thank you to all members, reps and officials for helping us get the vote out.
This suggests more than incompetence.

The Scottish Parliament did not to ask questions on this during their evidence sessions.

The University itself has not shared any information on any investigation it has undertaken.

Read the report here (pages 12-13).

In April, the University of Dundee commissioned a report by AAB on financial accounting during the financial crisis.

It found that draft versions of management accounts were altered before they reached UEG. In one case the report cannot explain why the reported cash position improved by £20.9M.
It is difficult to trust people in power when there is very strong evidence that they’ve not been telling the truth.

You said there would be no redundancies on national television.

Then confirmed on 1st July to 1000 staff and @thecourier.co.uk there is no Plan ‘B’ for redundancies.

Then six weeks later it’s revealed your failed “recovery plan” wanted 190 compulsory redundancies.

Wow! Congratulations on getting married. You rock!
It’s not surprising that when you drive one type of bigotry it means you can’t call out other types correctly.

“Ms Forstater admits racist comments, revealed by The Courier, were “ill-judged””

“Ms Cherry said racist posts shared by Ms Peggie mocking flood victims in Pakistan were “distasteful””

Our redundancies will not now go ahead.

Thanks to all who gave us their support and solidarity.

@ducuuo.bsky.social will fight and will win no compulsory redundancies for staff who are not at fault for the financial collapse of the University.
That’s really good news. Glad it’s sorted and that you’re pain free.
And in September 2023, the Director of Estates was quoted by the BBC website

“"It's [RAAC] going to cost millions.

It's not something we've budgeted for, but we do hold contingencies to ensure we are able to cope."

Expensive, certainly. “A shock”, absolutely not.

RAAC concrete repairs could cost millions, says Dundee University
RAAC concrete has been found in at least 24 university and college buildings in Scotland.

Very unreliable evidence from Prof Iain Gillespie. Here he states

“Then there were a number of shocks that hit us as we moved in to academic year 2024/25. The first was RAAC”.

According to the University’s own website RAAC was identified in buildings in April 2023. www.dundee.ac.uk/guides/build...
If you can’t remember that your behaviour led to a colleague you managed leaving and in their own words “completely broken” and you can’t remember the incident, you’re a lying sociopath.

“NERC or at Leicester? Regarding me? I don’t remember any such instances.”

REDUNDANCIES PROCESS CONTINUES

This is a follow up to our post on Tuesday regarding the interim-Principal stating "There won't be any redundancies" in an STV interview

Prof Seaton has clarified his remarks by stating that he meant "There will be no redundancies related to the recovery plan". 1/3
It is terrifying that such successful female research professors can be targeted for redundancy by the University.

If they can be targeted, we all can.

The University of Dundee has a women problem

“In our view this culture of sexism runs deeper than the sidelining of women speaking up and out and persists beyond the ignominious end of Iain Gillespie’s tenure as Principal of the university.”

Professors Angela Daly and Annalu Waller say Dundee University is destroying its commitment to gender equality in STEM.

On a similar subject have you seen this from Tuesday?

He has subsequently stated that redundancies at LRCFS and EduAt were not included.

The interim-Principal has clarified that he “should perhaps have qualified what I said to avoid any risk of misinterpretation”.

Redundancies at the University of Dundee have just been ruled out!

Thank you to Prof Nigel Seaton our interim Principal for confirming this and for STV for sharing this with the world!

NO REDUNDANCIES at the University of Dundee.

Fantastic news in our fight to save jobs, as interim Principal Prof Nigel Seaton confirms that there will be no redundancies. A massive victory for everyone who has supported us.

Looking forward to receiving the removal of Section 188 in writing.
I think it related to how much energy they need to warm the soup.

Morning - cold soup needs heating.

Midday - soup is hot. But more sun too.

5pm rush hour - soup needs a bit of a reheat.

And graduations in between
This sounds horrible. Has this concern been raised via the Whistleblowing procedure?

So very proud to be part of this industrial action to rule out compulsory redundancies at the University of Dundee.

Only when I’m on the picket line do I receive the strength to continue.

So thank you to everyone who visited the picket, honked their horns in support and showed that they cared.

Here’s what we got up to on Day 5 of our industrial action.

We heard about the important role that the staff from the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science play in trying to reduce drug deaths in Scotland.

And we welcomed back supporters and friends.

On last night’s news , Prof Angela Daly, outlines the areas being targeted by the University of Dundee. And covers their amazing work and support they have received

Angela is one of the 100% of female research professors targeted for redundancy by management in our School of Science and Engineering
