Nothing in the Basement is now available on Kindle (and Kindle Unlimited)! But somehow it has been misfiled as for ages 12-18. (Working on fixing this.) I don't think it would be traumatizing for someone that age, but I don't think it would make much sense to them.

Poets! I'm re-running for @sfpoetry.bsky.social Treasurer, and I'd love your vote!

Once again, I'm running unopposed (other than the Write-in option... or Wrong-in, amirite??), but I'd love your vote entrusting me with SFPA'S finances. We have exciting things on the horizon!

Can't sleep - #StarTrek Zine drops tomorrow!
jordanrhirsch.bsky.social
Thank you! And yes - strong FEELINGS. Nearly all my fanfic is Ash-centered 😅
jordanrhirsch.bsky.social
There's so much more I could say (I haven't even me toned Ash Tyler), but I'll end with this before I go to sleep:

I love #StarTrekDiscovery. I wish I could thank everyone involved for all they've given me.

And in many ways, I'm still processing what all season 5 means to me - from attending the premiere in NYC, to Airiam's emotional return, to my Captain becoming my Admiral. I've only watched it through twice - it still hurts that it ended.
jordanrhirsch.bsky.social
If you've seen my cosplay, you know my love for President Rillak and her leadership through my favorite first contact story of all time. They went big, and they nailed it. There's no way to describe the hope that finale makes me feel.
jordanrhirsch.bsky.social
I'll never forget the moment Michael scanned for life in the opening of season 3. I'll never forget when we found out the Federation had been gone for over a century. I'll never forget Michael's long journey to the Captain's chair finally coming to fruition.
jordanrhirsch.bsky.social
After losing my mom at a young age, feeling so much guilt about not being there with her when she died, seeing Michael get her mom back in a very real, very unpolished exchange moved me in a way nothing else could. I decided in that moment that I'd be a fan for the rest of my days.
jordanrhirsch.bsky.social
Disco was the Trek I didn't know I needed. During a time when so much of my own understanding of the world was being up-ended, shaking my identity to the core, watching Michael Burnham go through that was healing.
jordanrhirsch.bsky.social
Fast forward to January 2020, I was gifted a CBS All-Access annual subscription for my birthday so I could watch Star Trek: Picard. After season 1 ended, I decided to give Star Trek: Discovery a chance.

And I never looked back.
jordanrhirsch.bsky.social
Eight years ago, I had no idea my favorite show was premiering on CBS All-Access. I'd seen news of a new Trek show but was working two jobs and applying to grad schools - plus, I refused to pay to watch it on principle.

Happy to announce that my poem "Perish and Live Forever," which first appeared in MEXICANS ON THE MOON, has just won the @sfpoetry.bsky.social 's Dwarf Star Award for poetry. This award is for best micro poem of 10 lines or less. Many thanks to members who voted. It is a big honor. Much love!

Makes me sick - not surprised, but sick.
