Another retraction (#10?) for Srikanta Dash at @tulaneu.bsky.social

I reported this to the journal and the university in March 2021 - more than four years ago.
Despite 10 retractions, he is still a full professor at Tulane.

Screenshots of two figures from the paper, both are showing green fluorescent cells on a black background. I have added colored boxes to highlight duplications/overlaps.

I would plus one that. Lots of Oncotarget papers have problems. I already have over 200 Oncotarget papers flagged.

Of the 125 problematic papers that I reported 5 years or more ago, about 100 remain unaddressed.

Oncotarget's EiC thinks these images are totally fine.

An image showing lots of panels with a black background and green fluorescent cells. Colored boxes of the same color and arrows show overlapping panels or groups of cells found in more than one panel.
See: https://pubpeer.com/publications/C494F24D5E8153CB50C082DE5B0B03 Four panels, each showing a grey-colored petridish with bacterial colonies (which look like little irregularly shaped black dots). I have added colored rounded boxes to indicate colonies or groups of colonies that look remarkably similar. See: https://pubpeer.com/publications/0ACA63AC48C60852962E58844828A4

Just learned about this diamond journal, which has apparently been running since 2015! Looks like a very nice place for any meta-sciency work & probably deserves some visibility.

Fisheries can drive selection, but what about small-scale ornamental fisheries? Our new study shows Amazonian fishes interact w/ traps in species- & environment-specific ways, hinting at overlooked selective potential. Led by @marpineda.bsky.social Read here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10....

Our new paper shows how arena size can bias sociability estimates in sticklebacks: bigger tanks = lower sociability, even after adjusting for tank size. Repeatability highest at intermediate size. #methodsmatter! Great work from @mgmci13.bsky.social! Read it here: link.springer.com/article/10.1...

I vibecoded this little tool for detecting duplications and clones within scientific figures. I think it works ok! Please try it. There are sample images you can try. Free to use. Not nearly as good as the paid models, obviously.

Recently published study on a provoked escape response test in Padanian goby. Estimated maximum swimming speed was not repeatable at the individual fish level but consistently different between groups. Overall performance declined between tests. Paper here: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Systematic reviewers have a 10.7% error rate when screening papers for potential inclusion.

In other words, about 1 in 9 abstracts are categorised incorrectly (i.e., false inclusion or false exclusion). This really drives home the benefit of having at least two screeners
