It is also true of urban areas historically. My Brooklyn-born father didn't want to revisit his home neighborhood of Bensonhurst after learning it was, gasp, multicultural.

Yup. I think when people say, for instance, rural NY is like the south, this is what they're really intending to say. As someone who was moved from a NJ exurb of NYC to Fairview, NC around middle school, I was quite... shocked.

Thank you! I'm in a good place with it all. Which means it comingles as a reality without being bothersomely emotional, yet poignant and present here and there. Healthy grief, I guess?

Congrats! It really is a cesspool. There are some quirks to deleting, but anyone worth being in contact with generally will be reachable through other means.

That is weird because as all of⁹ us longtime glasses wearers know, technology has made thick glasses less thick and lighter over the decades. It seems the quality of your new pair is suspect!
