I always like a post-goliday work day, because people generally aren't around. And usually these are WFH days for me. (Though, um, I wouldn't be surprised if that flexibility is lost mid-year for me.)

And things keep moving forward!

Alexa playing instrumental holiday music after my alarm this morning resulted in Alexa being called some choice names that would be less problematic to an audience across the pond.

I love the fact that the recently Trump-commandeered Kennedy Center Awards happened last night and *nobody* is talking about it.

The waves of grief are not fun. One of my coping mechanisms is very dark humor, which makes me very nervous. But in shutting that down, I feel myself deflate.

The Kennedy Center's website is experiencing very high traffic.

One most likely won't be able to say that for that institution's future ticket sales.

I happen to think that Rob Reiner had a much bigger cultural impact than Charlie Kirk did.

So, I truly loved "Titanique." But it is inherently an off-Broadway show. "Titanique" going to the St. James in place of "Queen of Versailles" is further indication this Broadway season is quite bleak.

Baked some scones for a party tonight, and the smell of them coming out of the oven reminded me I baked a lot 15 years ago.

Legit amazing stuff.

And a great, great example of how “I have a dark, somewhat twisted sense of humor that’s not for everybody” does not have to mean “I lash out at powerless people and congratulate myself for my edginess.”
Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.

I'm glad holding a baby can help an Indiana Republican realize that this gerrymandering is not good, but he's a fucking idiot to need that specific trigger to convince him.

Days whose circumstances remind you this is all a big show with a mix of sincerity, absurdity, amd artifice bring value, if you remember when the illusion things are otherwise again becomes convincing.

*37% believe the Holocaust did not happen or was exaggerate
*36% believe NASA faked the moon landing

Seeing "Merrily" as a filmed show was fabulous today, since I saw the show when it was in previews and I could see some things and remember some things from the stage picture closeups cut.

Are the people so very defensive of any conversation about Erivo's and Grande's dramatic weight losses defending bodily autonomy, or really the notion that bone-thin should be the ideal?
