Giovanna Eichner, shareholder advocate at Green Century Capital Management, said: “It's absurd for Chubb to continue to underwrite activities that are causing climate change and then turn around and pay for the claims caused by these activities.”

So it will come as a shock to the market that Chubb has taken the role of lead reinsurer for a coal-fired power plant in Vietnam.

Insurers saw the climate crisis coming and reassessed what they would insure. Many pulled cover from homes with wildfire risk – including Chubb.

They also looked at the causes of the climate crisis and many pulled cover from coal projects – including Chubb.

HSBC helped raise billions last year for companies expanding the production of coal in deals that seem to violate its coal phase-out policy

The bank was ranked the UK’s second largest funder of fossil fuel companies in a recent report by ‪@ran.org
josephinemoulds.bsky.social
HSBC was slammed at its AGM when we revealed it appeared to have breached its coal policy by funding coal expanders.

Today we reveal that it appears to have broken its coal policy for the second year running. Investors are rightly furious.

my friend played this, built only renewables and his result was "your city is in DANGER, your MONEY is very low!"

I didn't think I could still be shocked by fossil fuel companies' lobbying tactics but this story, first revealed by Malene Emilie Rustad at the Norwegian publication E24, is amazing.

Oil giant funds computer game that promotes fossil fuels to…
An online game used in UK schools portrays oil, gas and coal as part of a green transition.

And on that site it said the game "aligns with our work to build future talent pipelines and secure permission to operate at a time of sensitivity around fossil fuels, particularly in light of approval for the Rosebank development".

And the promotion of the game appears to admit that it is an attempt to lobby children, saying it "aligns with our work to secure permission to operate at a time of sensitivity around fossil fuels, particularly in light of approval for the Rosebank development".

The company behind Rosebank has funded a computer game aimed at UK school children as young as 7, promoting the idea that fossil fuels can be part of a future energy mix.

everyone's said pretty much all there is to be said on the 'island of strangers'/'incalculable damage' stuff, so just sharing this by a migrant care worker on how it feels to hear yourself discussed like this while looking after people's loved ones www.thebureauinvestigates.com/stories/2025...

Coal is the single biggest cause of global temperature rise

Nowhere are its harmful effects more obvious than at the notorious Cerrejón coal mine in Colombia, which is almost six times the size of Manchester 👇

If it was just one bank doing this, it might be the bank’s problem. But another banker told us that other big US banks were doing the same thing – and that the Fed was tacitly allowing it. That makes it the Fed’s problem.

If you owe the bank $100, it’s your problem. If you owe it $100m, it’s the bank’s problem. The same could be said for bank regulation.

An Allianz board member recently stressed the urgency of stopping climate change before it destroys society

As someone making decisions at one of the world’s largest insurance groups, he can do more than most to achieve that – starting with Allianz’s fossil fuel investments

“This is about saving the conditions under which civilization itself can continue to operate”

Allianz has stopped insuring new oil and gas

But it held $26bn of assets in fossil fuel companies in 2024

Trump's government has said it will halt enforcement of a federal law that requires certain companies to declare their owners’ identities

Not only does this encourage fraudsters to do business on US turf – it also sends a message of apathy towards financial crime around the world
Trump’s scrapping of corporate transparency will strengthen dictators
The White House’s latest move doesn’t just encourage financial crime in the US – it encourages the acceptance of it everywhere else

Here's a shocking example of JPMorgan's supposedly sustainable investment funds, where only 51% of investments need to promote environmental characteristics – meaning 49% of investments have no such restrictions
