Deshaun Watson is gonna be in full uniform and using one of those leg scooters on the sideline while Shedeur is still the third-stringer

That's why the GOP claiming Lee Greenwood is so devastating politically. How can you argue that God doesn't bless the USA?

ANDREESSEN: Even if AI ends up destroying all the jobs, “the result would be hyper-deflation of prices, which is the thing that people miss. .. Things that today cost a lot of money will all of a sudden be cheap or free.”

I'd be fascinated to know if there was some inciting factor that really amplified helicopter parenting because it was happening well before COVID. My aunt taught middle school and retired in the late 2000s iirc, and she sensed a shift back then.

And this is a residential area in a small town. Your kid is going to be fine if you park 200 feet further away.

I was always taken aback at how parents couldn't park like a block over to make things so much easier for everyone. Instead, they clogged up the streets immediately connected to the schools and made it a nightmare to navigate.

Not arguing with the broader point, but my parents' old house was within a quarter-mile of an elementary school and middle school. The pickup lines were nightmares before COVID started.

Watching antisocial driver behavior in the school drop-off line makes it really clear that the pandemic destroyed whatever few shreds remained of the social compact, just pathological selfishness on display every day

Yeah, before posting that, I checked to see how old Ferguson was when he stepped down. I'd kind of argue United, while being the PL champions his last year, weren't at their peak anymore when factoring in their Champions League results. The decline was already underway and then accelerated.

It would be like judging Michael Jordan solely on his Wizards tenure. There isn't a single coach in any sport across history who maintained a peak into his 70s after 30 years in the job.

I think we know who's bankrolling the Pearson campaign

Ok but why can’t they just cast De Niro and de-age him like in “The Irishman”
josephzucker.bsky.social
Even as somebody who's reveling in every second of this, I think the pendulum is shifting too far against Belichick. He was clearly a great coach for a long period. His big mistake is staying in the game for too long because now everybody's lasting image of him will be this and the post-Brady years.

I'm really torn because there's going to be a live show in Columbus next spring but I have no idea how I can properly explain the appeal and vast lore of "On Cinema" to my wife

Curious to see who the Browns name as their new backup ahead of Shedeur Sanders? Deshaun Watson doesn't need two healthy Achilles to hold a clipboard.

It wouldn't have been a transformational change, but there's no chance we get all of these multi-episode, hours-long looks into ultimately boring figures like Tom Brady and Derek Jeter.

It's interesting to think about where the sports documentary genre as a whole would be right now if "The Last Dance" hadn't coincided with the pandemic, a period of time when people were cooped up in their homes/apartments with nothing new to watch

I might be missing one, but the last docuseries about a major pro team that felt somewhat unvarnished was "Being: Liverpool," which was back in 2012. And that's one that nobody other than diehard soccer fans will even recall.
