Something I think has flown under the radar the past few days is the amazing job the ION LRT team has done here in KW to adapt the system to freezing rain. I remember multiple days in 2021 & 2022 where the system shut down due to freezing rain. This year, we've had no problems at all!

Today, I am travelling to a concert in downtown Hamilton from my apartment here in downtown Kitchener. A journey of roughly 55km, between the downtowns of the 3rd and 4th largest settlement areas in Ontario. There are NO direct transit options to make this trip. Insanity.

A transit project being delivered late and over budget is not new. The first Shinkansen line and the Elizabeth Line were both late and over budget, but nobody remembers that. Why? They're amazing products. Let's learn our lessons now and get back to great transit products
