New York-Presbyterian plans to lay off 2 percent of its workforce.

“The magnitude of what’s happening at the federal level plus the magnitude, quite frankly, of our loss of volumes across the board has mandated that we need to take this action,” CEO Steven J. Corwin said in a message to employees.

A second death from the still-evolving #measles outbreak in Texas - this one, in an adult.

1) the measles vaccine is safe and marvelously effective
2) you can receive the vaccine up to 72hrs after exposure
3) vitamin A helps malnourished kids but doesn't cure

If we gut Medicaid bankrupting both rural and urban hospitals

If we gut medical schools and university hospitals by slashing NIH funding

If we cut VA funding and freeze hiring in VHA

Where will Americans get healthcare?

Doctors and surgeons can do amazing things because of medical research. The NIH is important to our health.
NIH doesn’t just support infectious disease research—it drives breakthroughs in cancer, childhood diseases, heart disease, diabetes & more.

Thanks to NIH, we have:
💉 Cancer immunotherapy
❤️ Cholesterol-lowering statins
🩸 Insulin for diabetes

Investing in NIH = investing in life-saving discoveries.

There are kids out there who still go hungry on the weekends.

I grew up with the support of the free and reduced price lunch programs. This program supports kids’ health and education. It helps to build our future.

Funding for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and Medicare and Medicaid helps underinsured or uninsured Americans.

Doesn’t matter if you live in the country or city, these programs save lives and benefit grandparents, single moms, children, and working families.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Happy MLK Jr. Day, my friends. In 1968, Dr. King spoke the following words, which are equally true today:

"The nation is sick. Trouble is in the land; confusion all around.... But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars."

We must find & feed the points of light.
