You start getting into movies, and then you get into classic Japanese cinema, and then Tatsuya Nakadai becomes one of your favourite actors, the rare actor where you're watching the movie more for them than anything else. Each of his haunting, hypnotic and intense performances were unforgettable.

The initial inspiration for Sunset Card Battler came when I started watching the 1993 Gridman last year. I've always loved tokusatsu, but this was the first time it hit me that I could try writing something in the genre, with our own trio of relatable teenage protagonists. (Art by Cassio Ribeiro)
