Every one of these games is just the same sci-fi fantasy smear of generic character archetypes with glowing runes and nonsensical hero shooter worldbuilding. Kind of vacuous sludge where you get the fire guy who says some shit like "I'm turnin up the heat!! woo!!!"

Thinking about it now, Deadlock lucky as hell it shifted it’s aesthetic to have the whole 1920’s Pulpy New York vibe over the more generic sci fi blend it had in pre alpha.
The game would be so less distinct without it.

Geoff ending off the presentation with a F2P Arena Hero Shooter was honestly probably the worst move he could’ve done because man did that extra sour people on it.

Do you think that's where a lot of it comes from, from people who were disinterested and seeing it absolutely stomp everything else at the Game Awards? I remember seeing some Ball and Gun gamers losing their mind over BG3 cause it was turned based. Some of them played it though after and liked it.
My takeaway from the game awards this year was that E33 exists on a pedestal, a pedestal it can never hope to uphold. When it wins every category in a year with some of my personal favorite games of all time I go into the game expecting it to eclipse those other games which will ruin the experience.

I think Moist actually said it best in his video, E33 is a very good game that did solidly win in the categories that it one. However it was allowed to outshine a lot of other solid contenders who deserved some spotlight. It feels like its THE ONLY good game that came out this year.

Last night's biggest surprise was Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, led by Casey Hudson, who directed KOTOR (and Anthem). Exciting news for lots of people... but Lucasfilm says the studio was founded this year, which means that 2030 is an *optimistic* guess. Maybe it'll be a PlayStation 7 game
