🚨 New paper out now in @egu-esurf.bsky.social! 🚨

We explore the geomorphic response of two river reaches to leaky dams, focusing on bathymetric change, planform evolution, water levels, and grain size distribution—helping to address the gap in field studies

Localised geomorphic response to channel-spanning leaky wooden dams
Abstract. The introduction of leaky wooden dams (or engineered log jams or LDs) into river corridors in low-order steams in upper catchments has recently become a popular form of natural flood managem...

Over the moon to finally announce our NERC: Natural Environment Research Council funded project Charnwood Champions 🥳

This project has been a dream of mine for many years after witnessing the inconsistancy and inequality of opportunities for children to access the natural environment

Hydrology Paper of the Day @joshwolstenholme.bsky.social on how sediment affects water transport during flooding: potential increase in flood hazard due to feedback effects, and application of the CAESAR-Lisflood2 model to the Glenridding Beck catchment for the 2015 Storm Desmond event in the UK.

When I was 5 (on Rt), my family moved to Kenya. I felt safe & happy in this vibrant place, but I soon became aware of the privilege I held. My early experiences shaped my understanding of inequality & inspired me to strive for a world where every child can thrive, just as I did 🌍💚 #WorldChildrensDay
This photo shows a group of five people standing outdoors on a sunny day. The group includes an adult man on the far left wearing a light-colored shirt, a young woman and adult woman in the middle—one wearing a white top and the other wearing a blue sleeveless top—and two young children. The children, one with short blonde hair and the other with long blonde hair (me), are positioned at the front and right, respectively. The group appears to be smiling and enjoying the moment, with a thatched-roof structure and trees in the background. The lighting is bright and natural.
