There's a lot of valid criticism of Smith's absurdly self-confident takes. But in this, his read of intellectual scaffolding of National Conservatism's backroom ideologists, I think he's worth reading. Not just for the criticism, but for the insight that its a movement failing it's own goals.

Mononoke and Miyazaki's stuff generally is kind of standalone and doesn't suffer from gross sexism as others tend to.
