Programmer/Board Game Designer/Writer. One day I'll bring all that together and then I'll be sorry.
Neat. I'm from linux-land, we've had the syntax so long half the semantics have been forgotten.

Wait, that wasn't complete or correct. You're writing languages for LMMs, which is also awesome, and not what I had in mind.

I kinda want one.

That's both incredibly cool and I also think that proves my point? (I'm on the internet, of course I think random tangential things prove my point!).

We'll never end up with a new major human-written language, because it's so easy now to create domain-specific shims.

For connecting existing things together, this is great. The SOTA models rock.

But what would be the point in a new human written language? How would it gain traction?

Also LMMs are writing the code, LMMs should be coming up with the language. As it stands, we're making them code in Aramaic.

Not quite what you asked for but you can unroll threads here (by going to your address bar and adding a 't' to the start of 'bsky'), and that shows you a page which is just the original thread in an easier to digest (or copy/paste) form.

Shout out to ‘Mythic Beasts‘. They’re UK-based. They‘ll do VPS, dedicated servers, co-lo, and other services.

They have been my go-to DNS guys for years, and I’ve used a lot of their other services over the years, as required.

They’re unflashy. They’re good at what they do.

A tale no-one really believed until an authenticated copy of the ‘Letter to Norway’ was dug up. The main result was the quiet shelving of Earth Studies, as researchers decide to leave the blasted rock to the crabs and go study something useful, like microbes on Titan.

It's the only service on the internet where I sit there thinking 'I wish I could pay for this!' and the creater is like 'nope, I don't want your stinking money, now hold on while I buy a 16 core CPU and upgrade the VPS proxy.'

It's the '90s dream.

My dad would tell me stories of standing in the terraces at the Goldstone Ground as a teenager lobbing toilet roll. Long gone of course, along with The Dell!

I'd say 'Proper football grounds' everywhere are a dying breed, but drop a couple of leagues from the top and they're everywhere.

Ha. Essay Tactic #1: Attack the Question:

How does this visual hurt them? Reform value obedience over coherence, no?

They're playing a different game. When a 'vanquished foe bends the knee' it's possibly even *better* if it's embarrassing, degrading. Brings to mind Trump making RFK eat McDonalds.

That was incorrect. Now, allow me to explain how it was incorrect as inelegantly as possible.

but to see a woman say with kindness "I'm not mad at you" before being murdered by state authorities, who have now gone on to claim her killing was just and right, and we're here making the case she was acting with righteousness and killed unjustly

this is just Martyrdom

Might it not follow that if the job were a better one, better people would apply?

I'd like to steal that, thank you.

Nice. I remember this *chart-fight* from Michael Caley. Really stuck with me.

this report is really good stuff

I love these charts, which are fascinating just for thinking about data and storytelling

both charts a) display data correctly and b) tell you something true and important about the world

and they're very, very different www.citadelsecurities.com/news-and-ins...
