this is because tim doesn't know how to add that feature to his store (b")

"so you're saying you hate waffles"

i just enjoy it better with the bosses actually being paced out by exploration and micro routing adjustments / extra pickups etc

i can see the impatience excitement of having "all bosses no upgrades" right there with a big fat reset button
but its just bad for >my adhd< to not have a map /game too

steel soul is just more interesting to me then pantheon 5 and potentially even p1-4
(though i understand they added the bindings to try and give players that feeling like you're speedrunning / steel soul running and trying to do bosses early with less resources)
November 27, 2025 at 12:24 AM
i had to give up on caring,
i can do steel soul (blew up 2-3 attemps early so far) and i can theoretically secure one good run at pantheon 4 for 112%
but i have no framework in my body excited to fight 50 bosses to unlock 1 new hall-of-gods fight, or to practice that fight enough to do all p5
November 27, 2025 at 12:24 AM
its just different from being thrown into 3-5 boss fights in a row where you're forced into optimal charm builds and spamming the most damaging attacks/strategies
its less fun for me to cut through five easier bosses to fight one new interesting boss

i understand i'm missing lore from both endings
November 27, 2025 at 12:24 AM
when you take away the exploration and secret hiding and commiting players to trying to minimize resources and time to boss attempts, or let players meander around soaking in the world and finding an easier time with bosses after getting key upgrades
November 27, 2025 at 12:24 AM
on being hardstuck on pantheon 4
i understand folks got kind of crazy about hk over the years
lots of challenge runs and crazy challenges attempted by players and streamers and champion players etc

but hk gives players a lot of ways to engage and challenge themselves in its normal gameplay
November 27, 2025 at 12:24 AM
i think i understand filling up a juice at a bench requires 1shard per (you get hardstuck on a boss and switch to tools that don't use shards that you might be less familiar with; creating a negative feedback loop of deaths)
but it does require some silly lore that the shard is a bottle cap or w/e
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
you need at least one memory locket, and then you can see the possible colors of every crest slot, but if you don't have one then the ui is greyed out

if you've got a juice tool/crest and its at 0/x uses, when you fill it up at the npc, they will refill your tank but not the active equip uses
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
i do want to see a couple of things patched that i'm shocked aren't included in patches that have gone out since launch
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
looking forward to getting a comprehensive understanding of silksong and trying to challenge myself to use more of the crests i don't like currently / some of the crests i know are in there later (can't avoid everything spoilers these days)
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
still on a2, went up the hard way and have been clearing out the map
we're very lucky to have ss be so familiar to hk in world exploration, secrets, combat
but feel so different and fresh in new movement abilities / limitations and new bosses that are more challenging but more fair to learn
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
i know its a given that they'd do something like that but it forces the devs to design everything around players maybe using the hk crest and the reaper crest feels like an attempt to meet them midway
i think the intent is for players to switch up crests based on types of
farming / boss / explortn.
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
i am having some fun messing around with the beast crest but most crests feel wildly situational
especially the limitations they set for locks
the reaper feels way too slow for the agility bosses and enemies are demanding from me,
i was a bit sad to find the HK crest because its a bit of a giveup
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
the environment is relatively easy to pogo, except for spike floors (something you can be learning and doing 2 minutes into hk, but because spikes are so static and flat they don't move into you and you can be pogoing enemies easier then spikes which is a bit hilarious)
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
i think most folks have problems with the pogo because the early game presents you with a lot of "static" enemies that stay low or stay in a thin horizontal radius
and the smaller the enemy the smaller the hitbox and thus the harder it is to adjust to "the new pogo"
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
i really don't have trouble with the pogo, i do still take stray hits bit i evolved into it, and i've gotten quite a bit of use out of the slight horizontal boost and downward momentum moreso then i've missed pogos for the animation ending just short of a spike / boss
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
later, once i've satisfied my need to 100% the map and i let myself use wikis and external resources
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
but silksong is very fun to experience going in with the context of hk

i think they pulled back a little bit on the breakable walls but at least they were signposted well in hk
in silksong i've found a few that were just rock walls i accidentally attacked
interested in getting context on that...
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
the complexity makes you yearn a bit for hk where a boss could just be one big enemy with one big jump / two attacks
everything in silksong can turn into a battle for your life, even one little flying bug with a rapier when you're carrying a courier's rasher and you find out it has 5 attacks
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
nerfing the wall jump and the wall cling animation but making it actually activate every time you hit the damn button was a genius change
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
crazy how just adding a run button that you don't need to constantly mash dash let them make a larger character, larger maps, more complicated enemy movesets, and still feel like the same size / maybe even a little faster paced
November 27, 2025 at 12:15 AM
not sure if it got added in the remaster or wotl originally but the lucavi seem to have thousands of hp nowadays
takes a bit more then a one-two punch
(if you're playing that version)
