Women face unique chronic disease risks, yet research has long centered on men, which creates blind spots in prevention & treatment. On #WomensEqualityDay, let’s push for health equity so research, policy & care reflect the diversity of those we serve.

Healthy employees are the foundation of a thriving organization. That’s why I’m excited to welcome Employers Choice as a partner at ProVention Health. Their approach is a smart, practical way for employers to invest in prevention while reducing costs: a win for both companies and their workforce.

Today is National Nonprofit Day, and I can’t help but reflect on the journey that led me to found ProVention Health Foundation. It has required persistence, patience, and a deep belief in the mission. It's not easy, but the work we do makes it all worth it.

I’ve spent my career in public health, and I’ve seen what happens when prevention is out of reach: chronic disease becomes much more likely. HALT changes that by putting evidence-based, life-saving tools directly into the hands of the people who need them most. https://haltchronicdisease.org/

But prevention isn’t just about what you do every day. It’s also about what you don’t ignore. Routine checkups help catch issues early when they’re easiest to treat. Skipping them can mean missing the chance to prevent something small from becoming something serious.

It may not sound groundbreaking, but consistent, proper hand hygiene is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of infections that can trigger or worsen chronic conditions, especially for people with compromised immune systems or pre-existing health issues.

In this country, the burden of chronic disease is not evenly distributed. Neither is the burden of mental illness. And too often, these two burdens compound in communities that are already navigating structural barriers to care, stigma, and socioeconomic inequities. 🧵

Welcome to the first (official!) post in my new series called Preventing Chronic Disease: Everyday Habits, Lifelong Health. I wanted to start with something small that can make a big difference: cutting back on saturated fats and trans fats. 🧵

Today, I’m reminded that public health is foundational to freedom. True independence means supporting the systems that help everyone thrive.

Prevention, care, and compassion are how we continue to build the America we believe in.

Wishing you peace, purpose, and good health today. Happy 4th!

Chronic disease is the leading cause of death and disability in the U.S., but it’s also one of the most preventable. That’s why I’m excited to launch a new series here exploring this topic and how we can take small daily steps to reduce the risk of chronic disease.

Every Father’s Day, I remember Jonas Robitscher—my dad, a psychiatrist, lawyer & wellness pioneer. He ran the Peachtree Road Race with us in the ’70s. I still run it today to honor his legacy. He taught us that health is a lifelong investment. I’m still following in his footsteps.

June is National Men’s Health Month, which serves as a timely reminder that men are often less likely to seek preventive care. Encouraging men to prioritize their health through routine screenings, mental health support, and chronic disease management leads to better health outcomes.

It was a pleasure to speak at this Lifestyle Coach Training with a focus on Tribal #Diabetes Prevention. Proud that our team is working to expand access to the National DPP in Tribal communities through culturally relevant training, technical assistance, and capacity-building.

We’re living in an age where the most effective leaders are not the ones who pick a side, but those who can lead through tension. It’s no longer enough to be decisive or empathetic, fast-moving or thoughtful, bold or humble. The world requires leaders who can be both. 🧵

Today, we remember the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

As leaders in public health and beyond, we have a responsibility to carry forward that legacy through action and care for our communities.

May we lead with purpose, on Memorial Day and every day.

At ProVention Health, our mission has always been clear: prevent #ChronicDisease before it starts. That’s why I’m especially proud of our CDC-Approved National DPP Lifestyle Coach Training Program; we’re the only organization offering this training with a focus on disability inclusion.

Just returned from an incredible visit to Alaska, where I had the honor of speaking at the 2025 Active People, Healthy Nation Alaska. On behalf of NACDD and the CDC’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity, it was a privilege to welcome participants and share our collective vision. 🧵

We’ve never aimed to be everything to everyone. Instead, we’ve doubled down on what matters most: evidence-based prevention. From our HALT Diabetes tool to our work in type 2 diabetes, oral health, and medical-dental integration, we’ve prioritized the areas where we can make the biggest difference.
May 8, 2025 at 5:19 PM
Too often, we talk about preventing chronic disease without supporting the full structure of prevention. At the CDC, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease receive funding, but without investment in physical activity and nutrition, we’re balancing on a three-legged stool. 🧵

If we're empowered with our #health, we'll take action sooner when we know something is off, potentially preventing the huge financial burden of waiting to treat ourselves once our conditions are severe. #Proactivity can help multiple areas of your life -- health, #longevity, and #finances.

I had the opportunity to meet with House and Senate MAHA Caucus leadership staff to discuss establishing a 50-state Physical Activity and Nutrition Program within every state health department. It was encouraging to see genuine interest in solutions that can make a long-term impact on #PublicHealth.

👀 If prevention were a superhero, it might look something like this (I couldn't resist jumping on this trend). We had fun with this graphic—but the message behind it is serious: the work of #PublicHealth leaders isn’t just behind the scenes. It’s foundational to America’s health. 🧵

Rural America faces higher chronic disease rates, fewer healthcare providers, and limited access to prevention programs—a gap that leads to worse health outcomes and higher long-term costs. That’s why we developed the HALT app. https://haltchronicdisease.org/

Our mission at ProVention Health is to spark innovation in #PublicHealth. I'm a believer in just trying out new, innovative ideas. Worst case scenario is that it doesn't work and you have to throw the idea out. Best case scenario is that it changes or SAVES lives. www.proventionhealth.org/
