But prevention isn’t just about what you do every day. It’s also about what you don’t ignore. Routine checkups help catch issues early when they’re easiest to treat. Skipping them can mean missing the chance to prevent something small from becoming something serious.

It may not sound groundbreaking, but consistent, proper hand hygiene is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of infections that can trigger or worsen chronic conditions, especially for people with compromised immune systems or pre-existing health issues.

Too often, we talk about preventing chronic disease without supporting the full structure of prevention. At the CDC, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease receive funding, but without investment in physical activity and nutrition, we’re balancing on a three-legged stool. 🧵
