yeah i read that piece and was similarly sickened (but the over-assessing is a very real thing in texas, it's incessant)

to me that's the "all assessment all the time" part: college 1st-yrs show up burnt out/all but traumatized from it, so nothing about learning or literacy is fun or playful anymore, not a game or challenge to leap at eagerly, bc all the love has been beaten out of it by filling in scantrons every day
