RFK Jr.’s attempt to argue that there has not been continuous transmission of measles in the U.S. for a year seems to hinge on Utah.

Recall that the index case in Utah refused to speak to the health department, so the truth is that we will never know if they had a connection to TX.

Measles elimination is an aspirational goal. It is not a bond rating. If the US loses its measles elimination status it will be public confirmation that we're is on the wrong track to protect Americans. But so is the fact that 3 people have died in the deadliest measles outbreak in 25 years. 1/

I'm sure it's just backlog.

Dr. Deborah Wexler's comment is not up yet - and she is an expert on hepatitis B vaccine; the committee would do well to read her submission carefully.

Great thread. Conducting placebo-controlled trials of items known to be relatively safe and effective is unethical.
Which FDA-approved vaccines had randomized, placebo-controlled trials?

ALL OF THEM.

Polio?
Measles, mumps, rubella?
Haemophilus influenzae B?
Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis?
Meningococcus?
Varicella?
Pneumococcus?
Rotavirus?
RSV?
Hepatitis B?
Influenza?
HPV?
COVID-19?
Shingles?

So this interview lasted 2 hours so this “you’re scaring me” part might seem like an overreaction or fearmongering to someone without that context.

There’s a lot of evidence to support my hypothesis that a potential H5N1 pandemic would be worse than COVID.

This is what Trump and Musk are doing during a measles outbreak.

Today, 10,000 staffers were fired at CDC—including measles and bird flu experts—while dozens of free vaccination clinics were canceled in Texas.

These billionaires don’t seem to care that children will die from their cruel cuts.

Dr. Gottlieb’s excellent & highly informative perspective on H5N1 & eggs is full of good ideas for controlling the epizootic & ensuring food safety.

It also made me yearn for a time when we had FDA Commissioners who took science seriously & based regulatory actions on evidence.

The most effective strategy against bird flu on chicken farms is prevention, writes former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb — and that may include vaccinating chicks.
