Having a Trump photo that channels his mug shot on an official US document seems good to me. Hundreds of thousands will be reminded every time they look at it of his arrest and convictions. As Trump pardons criminals allowing them to walk free, we need to remember what type of person does that.

This Danish US assessment is about many things including possible US use of military action against our allies. When I grew up allied countries were good for us and axis countries weren't. Think this is the first of many such reports as we distance ourselves from long term allies and not good.

MAGA has been successful by building a wide coalition. Less than a year from mid-terms, this will fight will hurt them. To try to push some Republicans out is a repeat of the cancel culture the Democrats used to push away Manchin and others. That didn't work well then and this won't either.

Republicans have had their chance. Since Reagan, privatized health hasn't worked. Premiums increase yearly with less benefits while Advantage C plans now cost $80B more yearly than Medicare. It's time to go back to more regulated healthcare. Republicans won't and the mess they created will continue.

If Hassett says Trump's economy is strong with robust growth but needs interest rate cuts to sustain it, then the economy is not on a strong foundation. They don't understand how people feel. Hassett and Trump should be careful demanding rate cuts. Inflation sunk Biden and will sink Trump too.

I agree this is a great listen and a conversation. What was also notable to me how lies repeated over years can become the 'accepted' historical chronology and events. Like too many, Douthat doesn't see how those lies affected his positions and makes achieving trans rights much more difficult.

I agree. While I like your context, the US also doesn't have to help push Russia and India together sooner as a way to avoid sanctions, tariffs and an inconsistent foreign policy. These aren't the only example as BRICS has significantly in 2025 with negative impacts.

Sometimes you just have to believe your eyes. It's true what Hegseth said Tuesday, the boat exploded and was on fire, but I can’t believe the two survivors were escaping and an imminent threat. Today politicians can say anything and some will believe it’s plausible. It doesn’t change what we saw.

Pretty clear what could go wrong if product statements are over-promised and not realized. Another attempt, like with AI and Crypto, to transfer the risk from the wealthy to investors without complete knowledge. This is bad legislation.

Defense Dept and Hegseth say these are lawful orders. Lawful for what? Drug dealers and terrorists receive US trials and are not summarily executed. Hegseth must release the orders given and if they state all should be killed, the official who approved them committed a war crime and held to account.

Trump is eliminating white collar crime if you are rich and support him. This has many impacts from DOJ not looking at select new cases to the impacts on disadvantaging the less wealthy. This is wrong and we need a Constitutional Convention to include pardon powers to meet what he country wants.

I'm not surprised. Slightly more than half of the US supports limited antidiscrimination trans policies. It's why the 'they/them' campaign ads by Trump were effective. We have lots of work to do before all are treated with respect. For today, I just pray the chemo continues to work for Ms. Capasso.

Problem with Brook's essay is we're not moving forward with challenges from progress, but backwards in so many ways. My goal is to get back human values, go forward and clearly state that. Like with children, to say I’m not proud of the moment and it must change, doesn’t lessen my love for the USA.

On an $832K home, the 30 year mortgage payment at today's rate of 6.22% is $2,325 plus property tax. If you assume the average property tax of $8,300 and bank's housing costs 28% guideline, you have to have annual gross earnings of $130K with a monthly net of $8K. Only 30% of households meet that.

Multiple reports say Ferreira was driving to pickup her son when picked up by ICE and has been involved in custody matters. Leavitt should be asked why a source who knows the family said Ferreira had nothing to do with her nephew given if she's deported, her brother gets full custody. This is awful.

Asking Putin to call before Zelensky's visit to limit arms for a hollow peace promise isn't 'deal making'. It undercuts trust and everything else. Trump supports it and our allies are watching. Rep. Bacon is right Witkoff 'acts like he is on Russia's payroll', and 'he needs to be fired'.

People are having difficulty affording food for Thanksgiving and the administration is focusing on how people dress on airplanes. Tone deaf and consistent with their moves reduce SNAP food for the poor. Awful this week and any time.

An quote by Brian Eno on Klein's podcast is apropos. Eno said AI was being designed like 'a car that can go 750 mph but without brakes as they slow down profitability'. When the race for profits is high and keeping users engaged is key, we've seen it does not turn out well. It's time for regulation.
