ICE official testifies that DHS “prematurely” sent Abrego Garcia a notice that he would be removed to Ghana.

Just this morning, Ghana’s foreign minister wrote on X that the country had “directly and unambiguously conveyed to US authorities” that Abrego cannot be deported there.

Ghana is not accepting Abrego Garcia.
He cannot be deported to Ghana.
This has been directly and unambiguously conveyed to US authorities.
In my interactions with US officials, I made clear that our understanding to accept a limited number of non-criminal West Africans, purely on the grounds of African solidarity and humanitarian principles would not be expanded.
Ghana strongly objects to these misleading media reports.

"What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we're actually not that afraid."

Buried in Michigan's antiporn bill is a provision to effectively outlaw "circumvention tools," such as VPNs.

Mark my words: legislators will increasingly leverage porn panic to restrict or ban VPNs, and to limit internet privacy far beyond adult sites.
Experts raise privacy concerns over Michigan bill targeting pornography and VPNs
Rep. Josh Schriver, the bill’s sponsor, says the law is designed to target only producers and distributors of pornography, not everyday internet users.

At first I did not believe this headline was real. But it’s one of the most honest I’ve seen anywhere in legacy media in 25 years.
Headline of Time Magazine IRL: “Trump loses Nobel Peace Prize he shamelessly campaigned for”

NEW: “The Justice Department seemed poised to pursue an indictment against Letitia James on pathetically weak charges. Yet the charges that actually ended up in the indictment a jury returned on Thursday may somehow be even weaker.”

Lindsey Halligan didn't have a strong case against Letitia James. She indicted her anyway.

So they’re keeping the House in recess for another week (see his follow up)?

To delay the Epstein Files and, I guess, avoid the No Kings rally on 10/18?

They are in full blown pants pissing panic

I'm at the scene where ICE abducted multiple people from Lincoln and Foster this morning.

A WGN producer was among the people taken, allegedly because she was among a group of bystanders who tried to intervene. ICE agents hit this car while making their getaway.

Institutionally, Jews were invested (sometimes paternalistically and hierarchically, granted) in the fates of Jews in other parts of the world *as Jews* and there are travelogues and educational/charitable networks that attest to this throughout the 17th-19th century. I teach abt some in my classes.

Yes. The only people who have difficulty understanding this are people who know nothing about the Jewish world.

What in the ahistorical nonsense...?

Our texts & liturgies have talked about Am Yisrael for CENTURIES BEFORE ZIONISM. Before Enlightenment-era nation-states existed.

I have seen more of this kind of thing in recent months from Arab-speaking creators. idk where they're getting this shit from.
Screenshot of a tweet by susan abulhawa @susanabulhawa

Transcribed text:

Historically speaking, there was never such a thing called "The Jewish People" before zionism.

There were Jews--Egyptian Jews, European Jews, Yemeni Jews, etc.

The fairytale they sell now to the world was manufactured in the 19th century. Most Jews didn't buy it at first; so zionists set up schools (literal schools) to indoctrinate them into believing that colonizing Palestine had been their lifelong dream.

This is Hegseth trying to make it sound like a bigger deal than it is. We have friendly foreign air forces in the US for training exercises and the like all the time, especially ones that use US equipment. That's what this is. It's not like an operational deployment or giving them a whole airbase.

Call me old school, but I don't think a person illegally blowing up boats and unleashing masked goons on his citizens would be a serious candidate for a peace prize.

They were going after Harvard for accepting donations from the Qataris but they basically own our government and all they had to do was give up a jumbo jet they weren't using anyways.

Lower income New Yorkers are more likely to ride the bus s. Also the house he used to live in before he split with Sandra Lee is worth 1.8 million dollars (third link) and had five bedrooms and six bathrooms and at 5,000 sqft meets the historical definition of a mansion
.

’s “plan” provides no relief for working families who take the subway, and unnecessary benefits to wealthy New Yorkers who take the bus and can afford the fare.

Eek. Well, I don't really care about the prize, other than not wanting Trump to get it.
