Explanation: I'm using the Lamed in the sense that Hashem's chesed is *for* the Olam [Haba]. That world is built with chesed, and the light for that world-to-come is sown for the tzaddiqim. Zohar discusses the emanations of light that were shaped and contained during and as creation.

They're powered by Supernal Light from Hashem: no need to renew because it never runs out!
missdiedra.bsky.social
I know why! I found out whilst counting the Omer this year:
Ps. 97:11 + Ps. 89:3 + "ki l'olam chasdo" = that supernal light is for the Olam Haba
Esther Rabbah, Petichta
The Sefaria Midrash Rabbah, 2022

They objected: Is it not written: “God said: Let there be light, and there was [vayhi] light”? He said to them: Even that is not joy, as the world did not merit to use that light. Rabbi Yuda son of Rabbi Simon said: By the light that was created on the first day, a person could look out and see from one end of the world to the other end. When the Holy One, blessed be He, perceived that the generation of Enosh, the generation of the flood, and the generation of the dispersion (after the Tower of Babel) were destined to sin before Him, He arose and concealed it from them. That is what is written: “From the wicked was withheld their light” (Job 38:15). Where did He conceal it? In the Garden of Eden; that is what is written: “Light is sown for the righteous and joy for the upright” (Psalms 97:11). They objected: “It was [vayhi] evening and it was morning, one day” (Genesis 1:5). He said to them: That, too, is not joy, as everything that was created on the first day is destined to wither; that is what is written: “As the heavens will be eroded like smoke and the earth will be tattered like a garment” (Isaiah 51:6).

A few minutes ago in the House:

- Speaker Mike Johnson officially cancels votes next week, extending the House recess through a fourth week

- House Republicans block Democrats from passing a bill to pay the troops during the shutdown, ensuring they will miss paychecks next week
House Press Gallery: During today's pro forma session, the Clerk read a message from the Speaker designating Tuesday, October 14 through Sunday, October 19 as a district work period. Punchbowl's Briana Reilly: House gaveled in and out of its pro forma just now w/o recognizing Rep Elfreth, who was seeking to UC a mil pay bill from Rep Sykes.

Elfreth told reporters after that House Dems stand “ready and willing to take” up standalone legislation to pay troops.

This video is everywhere because it's a hilarious visual refutation of Portland being on fire. You can't get a mass movement going without convincing the masses

so yes, this does do something actually

This literally does nothing. You are not beating fascism by dressing up in inflatable suits and dancing

Portland is leading the way. This is how you (non violently) beat Fascism. Humor and ridicule are key.

Outsourcing the harm so you can feel good about not being vocally bigoted sure isn't a flex, mom

oh my god my mother literally said nearly this exact thing to me on the phone. "I've never said a mean thing to my LGBTQ+/trans friends, I'm so nice to them! We eat together!" then is absolutely baffled and mad when I note her voting for Trump actively harms those same ppl in direct, material ways

"I can't do something racist/transphobic/ableist because I am a good person who had no racist intentions" is a logical fallacy. It's only half the equation. It ignores the other half of the equation, the firsthand information we don't have: what it's like to be the OTHER PERSON.

We don't feel the harm experienced by others the way we feel our own intent. It feels like a personal attack.

But that's why prioritizing impact over intent is so important. It prevents us from falling into that trap.

So we get defensive because we feel like a thing that we enjoy, that brings us happiness, that we do or enjoy with the best of intentions, can't be bad BECAUSE we have the best of intentions and we ONLY experience those intentions firsthand.
