Writer, trained investigator, ex-international Circus street theatre hula hoop stuntie. Loves a good spy story. Relentlessly creative problem solver.
This week the Oz circus world lost a legendary trainer: Arturo Gomez.

In the old days of Trad tent shows Arturo or his ashes would buried in the centre of the ring in a special ceremony.

Even without that Arturo will keep a special place in our memories.

Vale Arturo.
I've just learned my circus trainer has passed.

He was like a surrogate father to me when he was my trainer. He was an Argentinian Gypsy, and so proud.

He taught me magical things and I'm so grateful for his presence in my life.

I love you Arturo.

If you know my backstory you’ll understand how huge it is for me - but if I come down to the beach early, I can dance and prance and hoop and swan along the beach and no-one even notices … or does their best to tear me down.

Today I broke thru a block and took a hula hoop on my morning beach walk. I decided it didn’t matter if anyone was watching, put sunglasses on, and pranced and danced and hooped. Lucky there were only a few people around and everyone gave me privacy. So good to connect to past Judith.

Today I start a book to take the reader on a trip into Australian secret intelligence history to meet some extraordinary women I found, like Australia’s first female intelligence officer- & an agent who changed the course of the war.

Deep breath- can I bring them & their secrets to life for you?

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time writing (actually preparing!!) this opening address at the True Story Writers’ Festival in Coledale north of Wollongong this Saturday. About Mean Streak, Robodebt, et al. Think it’s going to be pretty special. Tickets here: events.humanitix.com/true-story-2...

📺 "If you want James Bond, go to your library".

Thanks to Engelsberg Ideas for letting me write on the best spy show - The Sandbaggers.

I also look at why the series is significant for real-life depictions of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6).
