On this day in 1997, Madeleine Albright made history as our first female Secretary of State — and it’s because of courageous women like her that we’ve made so much progress.

She paved the way for future generations, and her legacy will continue to inspire for years to come.

Today we went downtown to visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, where one of five hand-written copies of the Gettysburg Address is on display. We don’t appreciate how lucky we are to have this opportunity here in Springfield, to have these treasures in front of us.
