Word of the day….

Whenever Riverside opens again I'll have to break out my camera and take some new pictures. Until then, I'll dream of strolls around those shady paths and hold these old photos precious. The Buchanan angel always has the best view

Carved from wood, this 16th-century figure shows a corpse inside a coffin. The body is decaying and worms are spilling from the stomach. The coffin is a memento mori, an object that reminds the viewer of the shortness of human life and the inevitability of death.

The bones of several of my ancestors rest in this cemetery. Not sure if all the roads to get there survived Helene, but one day (when Fairview recovers a bit more) I'll venture out there to see what remains. Until then, I'll cherish the memories of exploring this beautiful place.

Okay but hear me out:

A nighttime bookstore in which the only lighting comes from lanterns, tea is served to all who enter, there is an emotional support owl in each section, and a buy one / get one free sale occurs during every full moon.

God forbid I just want to collect all the books that I possibly can, move into a mossy cottage in the darkest part of the woods, and make a lil home there amongst the animals and nature.

I shared this over on Twitter and thought maybe we could see some help here.

My family and I are in the affected area of Hurricane Helene (WNC). Things are getting better, but it's still rough. Wife lost her job, and I'm still recovering from surgery. Anything helps to get us by. gofund.me/8c6a0476
