Here is a nice picture of Elena Zhukova, the ex-mother in law or Roman Abramovich (and granny to his children), with her husband Rupert Murdoch at the state dinner given by King Charles for Donald Trump last night.

These three stories are the most read pieces by the Guardian’s business team over the last 7 days. Can you spot the theme?

Here’s the link to my report on the battle over Norway’s wealth tax.

It’s the big question for the chancellor - should Rachel Reeves bring in a UK wealth tax?

I looked at Spain, which has had one for years, and increased it after Covid. The result? It doesn’t raise much, but it’s popular, and there was no billionaire exodus.

This week Ukraine put the head of the prison where she was held, Sizo 2 in Taganrog, just over the border from Ukraine, under formal investigation. He is accused of overseeing systematic torture and abuse of Ukrainian captives, including Viktoriia, and is likely to face trial in absentia.

My colleague Shaun Walker attended the funeral of reporter Viktoriia Roshchyna in Kyiv today. She died alone and in unimaginable suffering, somewhere inside Russia, after being taken captive. Her body was returned in February and finally buried today 💔

He hasn’t officially declared his candidacy but when I asked him he said “J’y travaille” - “I’m working on it”. If he wins - and that’s a big if - he would lift Emmanuel Macron’s crown as France’s youngest president.

‼️ Agents from Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security detained four current and former employees of OCCRP's member center Kloop today.

Authorities have not given a reason for either arrest, Kloop said.

This week I've been writing about the death in Russian captivity of the Ukrainian journalist Viktoriia Roshchyna. She was tortured, she was just 27. And she was one of the 16k civilians Russia has abducted since 2022.

I spoke about it to Anita Rani on BBC Woman's Hour www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

In today's report, we go inside one of Russia's worst torture prisons - Sizo 2 in Taganrog.

For months, our reporters have been recording interviews with released prisoners of war to understand what happened here - and to name some of those responsible.

Russia is holding an estimated 16,000 civilians in arbitrary detention at 180 separate facilities. Taganrog was the most notorious.

Russia is holding thousands of Ukrainian civilians captive. They are local politicians, retired police officers, small business owners, community activists. Anyone likely to oppose the occupation.

They are ghost prisoners. Held without charge, without access to lawyers or to their families.
