Finished Split Fiction today, honestly really incredible title. Clearly the devs cooked with gorgeous environment art and some of the most interesting design choices I’ve seen. 🔥

lrp re: japanese labor laws and japanese game dev. for the past 5 or so years, AAA japanese developers have been raising starting salary for university students and new employees iirc. (been awhile since i read any reports, etc.) which has encouraged new talent in a competitive market.

If anyone knows of remote game studios hiring associate producers… I’m still looking 👀 I have experience running multiple teams at a time as the sole production contact, scheduling work for 30+ people at times. Would love to work with an indie studio, but open to AAA too. #gamedev #gamedevjobs

Got loaded fries for 8$ not expecting much… Ended up with fries COVERED in the most delicious Buffalo fried chicken, in an incredibly generous portion. Honestly, surprised it was ONLY 8$ 🥹

Anyone have that ONE “lost game mechanic” that they wish would come back to a modern game?
For me it’s the battle system from Lost Kingdoms 2, it was very Yugioh esque with the cards, but with real-time battles, and I’ve still yet to find a game similar. Maybe Fromsoft will go back to the series 🥹

something i see frequently among gamedevs is "there's too many roguelikes / deckbuilders now" but like... these are genres that barely have a toe in the pool, imo. genres that are 40+ years old are getting brilliantly creative new entries in them all the time. the well has not run dry
genre discussion is so funny. my mind has been warped since my favorite game in the last 5 years is in a genre i otherwise find cruel and frustrating. genre is what you make of it. and so, it's inevitable that someday, someone's going to make a fishing game bigger than balatro
