New Review! 2XKO has sunk its hooks into me. Super fun characters, excellently designed mechanics, and welcoming to newcomers while still being fiercely technical at higher levels. www.ign.com/articles/2xk...
2XKO Early Access Review - IGN
Simple inputs lower the skill floor while deep mechanics push the ceiling above the clouds.

Trust me, it wont be as hard as those freakin bamboo cutting minigames in Yotei lol

Sometimes I dream about being a video game developer for a AAA game and putting in a recurring puzzle that requires the player to do progressively harder fighting game combos. The last and hardest one will be optional, but it's required for the platinum trophy.

I got lazy with my flu shots, and am currently dealing with the worst bout of the flu I’ve ever had. Lesson learned.

There’s one more plot related thing that I haven’t done yet, so I’m not sure if that’s tied to another true ending. I guess I’ll see

Credits on Hades 2! I started over with the 1.0 release and got through it in 39 nights. My thoughts from my early access review largely hold up: It's an incredible sequel that does a wonderful job of reimagining the gameplay loop established in the first game and expanding upon it in exciting ways.

Hades 2, like the first one, is such a funny game because you'll get to a boss for the first time and be like "what the fuck, this is nonsense how am I supposed to beat this?" and then three runs later you'll beat it without even using a single death defiance.

Damn, Prometheus is kinda a jerk in Hades 2. Stop stealing my death defies.

If Hades 2 offers you a Daedalus Hammer, you PICK UP THE DAEDLEUS HAMMER!

Got fifth at my local this week! Trying to make it out to these as much as I can.

It sounds like Silent Hill f is shaping up to be one of those games I’m gonna have to play despite being a wuss that hates horror

When I have lame guns, the combat makes me sleepy, when I have cool guns, I can play for hours and not get tired of it. It's so hard for me to find that sweet spot with this series.

Credits on Borderlands 4, and I think that's probably gonna do it for me. Definitely an improvement over 3, doesn't quite reach the heights of 2 in terms of the overall package though. So much of my enjoyment in the series is dependant on what guns I have

And while we didnt win a whole bunch, we laughed a whole lot and i was able to share one of my biggest hobbies with him in a way that I never would have been able to. That alone is a huge win in my book.

Just did some 2XKO duos with my best friend who doesn't play fighting games and it was a lot of fun! Got him on a basic Blitzcrank gameplan of either grab > command throw or grab > mash pulse combo, and to use his assist at the end of my block string so i can keep up my pressure

Kids these days don’t know about the excitement when your crush signed on AIM and their name popped up in bold letters.
imrankhan.bsky.social
AIM was superior to texting because you couldn’t reach people all the time. It made that door opening sound matter, damn it.

i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?

Dan is one of the GOATs of this industry. I truly don’t think I would be where I currently am at in my career if he didn’t see something in my writing early on in my time at IGN. He helped me hone my craft with his edits, his pointed questions, and his encouragement to dig deeper in my critiques.

So, a bit of an announcement: I'm retiring. My last day at IGN will be Oct 1; after that I'll be a full-time dad for a bit while my kids are of an age where they'll think spending time with me is cool rather than lame. It's been a huge honor and privilege to run reviews here for the past 12.5 years.

I wrote 3,400 words about Silksong and did not once use the words "soulslike," "Dark Souls," or "metroidvania."

If that isn't worth a read, I don't know what is.

Silksong is fantastic.

It's not flawless, and we are doing it a disservice by framing discussions of its missteps entirely around "difficulty," but I think what's been accomplished here is still going to sit comfortably amongst the best of the genre.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Review - IGN
An unapologetically challenging sequel packed full of sharp platforming, enticing exploration, and nail-biting combat.

But that early code comes with a responsibility that affects you, your outlet, and your peers as well. Read embargoes carefully, respect them, and unless permission to post anything before release date is EXPLICITLY STATED, err on the side of caution.
