This is a thing I think most people really don't get. High-end scraping tools can login to all of the major social media and are scraping the fuck out of all of it. There are orgs building private equivalents of the Wayback Machine for purposes much less civic-minded.

Absolutely nothing about this site’s architecture stops AI companies from scraping and training on it right now. The company everyone is freaking out about has clear license terms that say they aren’t doing that, but anything you post here is absolutely being used by someone for training

Also, a fucking slimy thing I just found Amazon doing. When I review my order history directly on the Amazon website, it shows the current price for items I've ordered in the past. To find the price mark-up I had to go into my email to find the original order confirmations to see the old price

My Amazon coffee order is up more than 30% in the past month. On August 23 it was $31.24 for a box of 100 k-pods. Tonight, September 25, it is $41.65 for the same box

Also seeing a lot of pro-murder stuff on tumblr and twitter. My tiktok is tuned to not have politics in it, so I'm not sure how much anti-Kirk sentiment is there, but it kinda seems like BlueSky is the platform with the fewest people celebrating his murder

I knew more than 1 kid as a freshman in high school whose mom or dad sat them down and gave them their "first" (it was never their first) cigarette, now that they were "old enough for it".

We had a smoking area on my high school campus. The legal age for sales was 16, but 13-yos were never refused
