related to this - I *really* need to stop trying to swing back in disadvantage

aside from the fact that it messes with my SSDI if I time it wrong, Absa doesn't really have good buttons to do that in the first place

get out of the way first, then try and find a way back into the game from there

on a non-Absa related note, my defence in this game is decent, but I consistently get hit for 70-80% in disadvantage from strings that I really should be able to SSDI out of

if I'm unsure about which way to go, SSDI up or away, depending on the direction I'm getting hit

I'll need to check the frame data on these options in my spare time to make sure it's worth the risk

these should mostly just be used to pester people who otherwise refuse to interact with me (and maybe against characters that I would struggle to fight in neutral otherwise?)

I could also just end the up b on the first tick, leaving myself right next to them - punishable, but if the opponent is expecting me to keep moving, I should be able to act first in most circumstances... i think.
August 19, 2025 at 2:02 AM
I *think* that this is punishable if they CC the up b, but I imagine that they'd need to know which direction I was going in ahead of time
August 19, 2025 at 2:02 AM
that being said, I've already been mixing in triangle dashes with my djc aerials, so i might be able to use up b as a secret third option (just be wary of parries)

alternatively, I could use grounded up b and immediately go back the other way, turning it into more of an 8% poke
August 19, 2025 at 2:02 AM
and going straight up vs characters with especially good antiairs (lox, clairen, other absas) basically just puts me in disadvantage

starting those up bs from short or fullhop height would let me end them closer to the ground near the opponent, but also telegraphs my intentions a lot more
August 19, 2025 at 2:02 AM
starting from the ground means that the second up b only has so many places to go, and none of them leave me close enough to be looking for an aggressive option against someone that knows what's up
August 19, 2025 at 2:02 AM
I'm not currently considering where I'm starting them from atm, because I have a nasty tendency to do them horizontally from the floor and then straight up, then praying they don't act in time before i land on them with an aerial
August 19, 2025 at 2:02 AM
I think my nair usage is fine (other than the occasional accidental fullhop nair, thanks ultimate) but I'm gonna have to completely reconsider how I use up b
August 19, 2025 at 2:02 AM
last thing that i need to figure out for now would be my aggressive options

nair is good and I think there's something to be done with aggressive up b usage in neutral, but the way i'm going about it atm is getting me outspaced or parried more often than not
