All of us, regardless of what we look like or where we were born, should feel safe at school, at the doctor’s office, or at a house of worship. Due to the Trump Administration, ICE now has free reign to arrest people in these sacred spaces, threatening their sanctity for everyone.

These are the lives impacted by the inhumane policies of the administration. Policies intended to enact a mass delegalization campaign and further displace people. We uplift Kateryna’s voice and the many others we’ve spoken to this year because their stories matter and are worth fighting for.

Kateryna [pseudonym] fled from Ukraine and came to the United States through the humanitarian parole program, Uniting for Ukraine, once the war broke out. Now due to the Trump administration’s actions, she’s left in limbo, unable to work and provide for herself.

At a status conference (in Svitlana v. Noem), the judge expressed concern about the government’s processing and asked us to continue to monitor the situation.

🎉GOOD NEWS: We won! A federal judge just issued a stay (pause) on the admin's use of expedited removal for individuals with parole. This affects ~ 1 million people, limiting the admin’s ability to subject people to rapid deportations without so much as a hearing. www.cnn.com/2025/08/01/p...

Voices from last week's hearing in DC! Expedited removal is a cruel tactic that millions of people who've been paroled in the U.S. are being subjected to. We're fighting back against the terror. #WeKeepEachOtherSafe! w/ @CASA @CHIRLA @UndocuBlack

All across the U.S., people are showing up for their hearings and sharing their information voluntarily, only to be met by ICE agents outside courthouses, arrested and removed from the U.S. without due process. We had our first hearing in court today in CHIRLA v. Noem to stop this harmful practice.

TL;DR: The fight is not over.

Plaintiffs of existing cases have already sought class action certification in response to this morning’s SCOTUS ruling. In the coming days, the litigation in those cases will determine the scope of this morning’s ruling.

Today, the Supreme Court ruled to limit nationwide injunctions; however, it did NOT rule on the constitutionality of birthright citizenship, where litigation continues.

Graphic with the following copy underneath the Justice Action Center logo: "In a 6-3 decision, SCOTUS limits nationwide injunctions, siding with the Trump admin. Today’s ruling does not address the constitutionality of birthright citizenship, where litigation continues." "SCOTUS did not address the constitutionality of the birthright citizenship executive order, which every court has found to be flagrantly unconstitutional. Instead, the Supreme Court used this case to limit the use of nationwide injunctions, a legal dispute that has been brewing for years. As a consequence, the Supreme Court has sent a shock wave to immigrant communities across the country and failed to take into account the grave human consequences at stake." "SCOTUS’s order does not take effect today. Further litigation will be required to determine if Trump’s unconstitutional birthright citizenship order is allowed to take effect. Today’s ruling allows court orders to remain in place when necessary to protect the plaintiffs who have challenged the order, and makes clear that nationwide relief may be granted when class actions are certified. Plaintiffs of existing cases have already sought class action certification in response to this morning’s SCOTUS ruling. In the coming days, the litigation in those cases will determine the scope of this morning’s ruling." Quote from Karen Tumlin, Founder + Director, Justice Action Center: "“We cannot allow the Court to take the focus off of the human lives at stake with their attempt to mask today’s ruling as a technical legal fight on the scope of nationwide injunctions. This ruling is the culmination of a far-right, xenophobic wish list to subjugate entire categories of people—babies—into lesser members of our society. As the daughter of an immigrant, as a mother, and as a lawyer, this ruling breaks my heart for our communities and our country. "
