I'm working on a series of small 8"/20cm square canvases (4 for £2 from Poundland!). These are my homage to Josef Albers' "Homage to the Square" works. Similar in conception, receding squares but I use glitter and iridescent paints. I call them "Homage to the Sparkle".

What's up?

I can now truly appreciate retirement and not working for the man, though I still get nightmares sometimes.
With my first year of being a pensioner being seriously ill with invasive treatments to eradicate the thing that was mutating inside, I can finally make #art full-time. So cool.

Now I'm getting better I have more energy to work. I have inertia. I was getting lethargic before, now I have the urgent imperative to be productive. Cancer makes you think different, as Apple crudely put it. Now it's gone I realise #time is fleeting and I must make better use of it.

Still trying to fight the battle on X but so many bots it's like Ukrainians fighting the orcs on the Eastern Front, and sometimes you have to do a tactical retreat.

What's up?
All these months have passed since me being in this blue place. Got the excuse of having cancer, two operations, 3 procedures, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which #NHS fixed. Bless them.
And X is like a battlefield between the decent and the depraved.
Expect more randomness and #art..

What's up?
Jack and Lea have given me a lot to think about and up till now I've been fairly sanguine about it. Almost too relaxed.
My #drawing output dried up last year, unlike '23 which was very fertile, but here's a new portrait of the #artist, warts and all. Doesn't look like me at all!

So the meeting with Big Doc wasn't as definite as I was somewhat hoping. For a start Big Doc wasn't there, it was Junior Doc Jack & Specialist Nurse Lea who greeted me. Both fine people. Basically results of PET scanner hadn't come through so not much to report. Will now know what's what next Weds.

They injected me and put earplugs in and headphones on my head which they secured in a brace so I couldn't move it. Then the machine swallowed me up and a voice gave instructions, and the machine made loud techno sounds like a cross between Stockhausen & Aphex Twin as it took pics of me.

What's up?
I built the shelving unit. Hooray! It was fairly simple going but quite heavy and I felt knackered after finishing. Much of this I put down to my condition and my age. Now I can have vertical storage instead of stuff on the floor. It will clear a wall as well which is really useful. #art

I'm collating my #vinyl records. This is a momentous task because I have quite a lot. But I want to make lists of my collection. I was going to take photos and do a spread sheet but someone suggested #discogs - of course! Why didn't I think of it? - it's ideal really - except the amount.

This #Northman film is pretty gritty, gory and tough. What brutal lives people led in 9th century North Europe. Just violence and dark magic. The language is a bit difficult to follow but the visuals are sometimes stunning. And the tracking in the fight scenes is superb. OTT testosterone levels.

Rather than Legolas I'm more Théoden, in a slumber that needs awakening. It's true the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, especially when it's misbehaving.
Crashed at the studio but didn't get anything done. Still, it's an early start even though I feel like death warmed up.

Since yesterday's big news things are swirling in my head but also how sanguine I am being about matters.
So all is upside-down and I'm at the studio in the evening, instead of daytime, doing a night shift, like the glory days of Carpenters Rd when I had the energy & fitness of Legolas.

Here's a recent small #painting called "Little Red Door" which I gave to my younger sister as a gift. Although quite #minimal it also has #figurative & #abstract elements to it with many readings. I worked on it on and off over a couple of years, it's a microcosm of my work.

Still got my affliction (I deleted the post about it, but woe is me). Consequently I've got little energy and I'm in a creative lull, so having to really push. I can be so lazy sometimes, I often think someone else really is controlling me, I'm an avatar in their holographic world.
