Shout out to all the Germans in 1933 who muttered "oh my god this is unbelievably stupid"

True libertarians are right about a lot (not all) things. The problem is, there are only about 7 of them, and they've all been banned from official libertarian conferences.

RBB does some serious litigation, any prison industrial complex lawyer who fails to take them seriously does so at their own peril.

The only reason ice isn't going around arresting every Hispanic person in Florida is because governor DeSantis has sent his own thugs to arrest every Hispanic person in Florida. 🫠

I have news for them about Florida.

Democracy is going to die because Kristi Noem thinks someone she's arrested's Canadian boyfriend is the head of antifa and Donald Trump doesn't know that 2020 was 5 years ago, welcome to hell.

It's pretty obvious and has been for some time that conservative Christians reject most of the important religious tenets of Christianity.

I’m finding it extremely funny that he’s really doing nothing but expressing total standard Catholic views and the reaction is so apoplectic

Insurance costs are a different story.
justinlawguy.bsky.social
(It's only level two charging, but there's a place near my house that literally still allows you to charge for free).
justinlawguy.bsky.social
EVs are not notoriously difficult and expensive to maintain lol
justinlawguy.bsky.social
There's only one thing that can really go wrong on a electric car Other than extremely standard car parts and while it's expensive it's usually under warranty for at least 7 years.

There's a lot of things that can go wrong with a miniature power plant.
justinlawguy.bsky.social
Yeah, I think where this article goes wrong is assuming that people pay the average price for fast charging. There is a lot of variability, and while on road trips you may not have that many options, If it's your regular charger, you'll find cheaper than average!

What crime is he alleging? Or is the crime just being mean to Trump
justinlawguy.bsky.social
There's one solution to get out of this crisis, it's actually good for the country, and it's staring everybody right in the face, and it involves no more filibusters.
justinlawguy.bsky.social
You can't appeal a TRO unless you're the Trump administration.

This weekend I was walking around DC and my son (11) asked about the soldiers and I told him. I finished, "nobody wants them here." He asked "do the soldiers want to be here?" I said "probably not."

One of them, listening in, chimed in "that's absolutely correct."

Anyone who puts Notre Dame in their top 10 should lose their voting credentials. And maybe face prison time.

Someone has Notre Dame 7th, Texas 13th, and Penn State 16th! Why do they even play the games?????

Judicial salaries may only be a small part of their pay, and any salary of the law clerks Is dwarfed by future other compensation.
justinlawguy.bsky.social
Except this would ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court, and I'm not sure they care.
justinlawguy.bsky.social
Yeah, if you're actually working during the furlough, The case against paying you back pay is *tough*
justinlawguy.bsky.social
..... If it weren't for sovereign immunity, government workers would have a pretty slam dunk contract claim for back pay even If the statutory requirement was repealed. And generally, sovereign immunity is waived in contract. But I'm not an expert enough to know whether it's waived in this sense.
justinlawguy.bsky.social
A statutory law can be overturned by statute, which any law reopening the government would be.

The more interesting legal issue is that people who are currently furloughed have a contractual expectation now in ultimately receiving back pay that keeps them from looking for new work.....
angrystaffer.bsky.social
Fuck this.

This is nothing but red meat for Trump’s base. A federal law that *Trump* signed into law guarantees backpay to furloughed workers. There’s no disputing this.
moreperfectunion.bsky.social
A new White House memo says that furloughed federal workers aren't entitled to back pay.

This is clearly against the law, which guarantees furloughed federal employees back pay for the duration of a government shutdown.

Did the gales of November come early?

I don't know what's so difficult about the spelling of 8th. It's only three letters.
justinlawguy.bsky.social
This Supreme Court would never allow a Democratic president to do that.
