I thought of Terence Davies' films, and now that I reflect on it, these AI memorials - & any AI that claims to bring the past to life - which seem that much more inhuman. An algorithm, among other failings, doesn't have the tactility of a scratched piece of vinyl that stores your own personal ghosts

It had the feeling of an everyday miracle, a seance that brought back her, other family members, my grandfather on the accordion, the world of the late 1940s where people made their own music and listened to polka, but also did the same thing we did that night (played cards and drank beer).

I think it was a guy who'd lived in NYC his whole life but had still never seen it. I think at the end he sees it and then dies, or maybe just goes on to continue living miserably. Something like that.

I'm interested in the complexity of rebooting a character who began as a racist fighting for empire and still, today, fights for empire, but I'd settle for him killing a dude in a way that makes me laugh.

The range on this guy is insane. So many different characters, of all ages, from all walks of life, played convincingly and movingly. Just an absolute master.
