(”the Artemis Accords are a non-binding set of principles designed to guide civil space exploration and use in the 21st century.”)

Finnish Military Intelligence Review 2025 was published yesterday. It doesn't have much space content, but it is worth checking out if you are interested in general how Finnish military intelligence sees the Russian threat developing.

Kirjoitin Viestiupseeriyhdistyksen Viestimies-lehteen 4/2024 avaruusasiaa (s. 14-18). Jutussa käsitellään mm. avaruuden sotilaallista historiaa, avaruustoiminnan kehitystä ja sen osa-alueita. Lehden verkkoversio on vapaasti saatavilla:

9/10 In summary, the report clearly outlines how the FDF 🇫🇮 will develop and use space capabilities during the rest of this decade. The minor flaws can be addressed in the upcoming space defense strategy. I hope to be involved in drafting the strategy when my GSO studies are finished.

There were 10 authors in total and most of them were much more experienced than me. It was an interesting project and learning opportunity for me. Here is the table of contents, if someone is actually interested 😅

This is mainly for my Finnish speaking followers. I wrote a chapter about space and Arctic in this new book geopolitics in the Arctic area. There is not much literature in Finnish about military use of space and its strategic significance, thus it was pleasure to join this "small club" of authors.

Not an actual link unfortunately. Someone had posted that to X while updating coverage from the SmallSatSymposium. Here is a screenshot.

I would also argue that number of personnel is one difference (as also in discussion whether new Pohjanmaa-class a corvette or a frigate). Hamina-class is very capable in terms of systems, but only some of those can be operated simultaneously. Anyhow, my experiences are pre-MLU 🤷‍♂️

Very good visualization of population distribution in Finland made by Ossi Kotavaara. Finland 🇫🇮 is sparsely populated country with a few higher density urban areas.

Finnish satellite company Iceye just launched more satellites with SpaceX Transporter-rideshare mission. Separation from the rocket has been confirmed. This was Iceye’s third launch this year. Iceye was operations already before this launch world’s largest SAR-satellite constellation 🇫🇮🛰️

There is at least option to translate under the ”tree dots” menu if you mean that? It is not really integrated as it takes you to Google translate, but it works. For some posts, there is also a ”translate” button under the post, but it is not there for every post. I’m not sure what affects to that.
