Certainly there were some earlier ripples with some eye candy female superheroes. Women had strong roles in some Westerns.
Your point is fine, but "Alien" was the bigger movie and Ripley IS the film.
Yet, the first true female action character to dominate a film is probably Foxy Brown from 1974.

But, he's also a former Air Force JAG. When he promises "vigorous oversight" of Secretary Hegseth's conduct, it's something to watch.

Senator Wicker (R-MS) is not only Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, he's also a former Air Force JAG (Judge Advocate General). That's not good for Secretary Hegseth.
