Lamar also performed surrounded by dancers arranged like a divided American flag, symbolizing a nation split. Overall Lamar’s performance can be viewed as a form of resistance against Trump's cultural & political agenda that seeks to actively sweep people of color off the main stage of America. /fin

Lamar made few concessions to the sort of conservative NFL viewers who had criticized Kaepernick's 2016 protests. Further, Lamar included lines that could be interpreted as disses of Drake or Trump: "Once upon a time, all of us was in chains / … / Fast-forward, 2024, you got the same agenda.” 4/
