This is the right way to think about it.
The Trump regime's actions, while quite concerning, are not the actions of a regime that is growing in strength, successfully consolidating authoritarianism.
They are the actions of a regime that is losing, and flailing on its way down.

Everything they do just shows me that they're in desperation mode because everything we're doing against them is working. I'll say it again, these aren't moves of an administration confident in their future, they're one of one in a death spiral trying and failing to save themselves.

Let me reiterate: THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUYS TO PERSECUTE LARGE NUMBERS OF DISSENTERS. What they are doing, instead, is using fear and paranoia as a force multiplier: they don’t have to persecute us if we keep ourselves home because someone told us we can’t walk in public without being terrified.

The MAGA regime also really obviously doesn't know what to do with the fact that each time ICE murders somebody, the people they're trying to scare merely get more angry and more motivated to fight back.
