It’s bad enough that these assholes lie to us, but the absolute transparency and stupidness of their lies takes it to another level.

But that’s the point. These people are stupid. They’re clowns. But the obviousness of their lies is supposed to grind us down.

Hell yes. Get it done.

Who could have ever predicted the guy who spent his entire life and career profiting off his abysmal failures because the system benefits white, wealthy failsons would do the same thing repeatedly if given the most powerful office in the world?

The Democratic Party is so tragically wed to maintaining their own stranglehold on power in the party they can't even admit one of their own should resign and be replaced, something that would hurt literally no one.

As comprised, they can't handle their own business, let alone fighting fascism.

In my own research in learning about American authoritarianism, I found one article after another during the era of chattel slavery that attempted to legitimize it using almost exactly these words and phrases. The idea that a select few should be saved from "drudgery" through enslaving others.

This excerpt from a nauseating WaPo op-ed needs read through a lens of divorcing this scenario from its tech. Read it again but imagine a person.

The veneer of AI and robot technology is just a stand-in. Transplant this into the human world and you get a very clear understanding of what they want.

Yeah, I mean, it's not like the main basis of American Empire in the Neoliberal Era has been the weaponization of trade against countries with an implicit threat of militarized violence in order to slot them into a global system of exploitation or anything.

No, it’s completely cool that Trump used our tax dollars to turn the White House website into a bootleg, state propaganda Drudge Report. Not at all pathetic or desperate or a perfect metaphor for how deep we are in the fucking gutter.

I don’t know what’s going to happen to Bukele in the long run, but safe to say whatever happens, regardless of how bad it is, it’s going to be better than this fucking creep deserves.

We're seeing clearly the priorities. People with power are less concerned about our rights and authoritarianism than they are these hapless motherfuckers messing up their military, their economy, and encroaching on a court system designed to protect them and their property.

Authoritarianism progressively worsens, but there are hinge points, moments where the necessary reach of cruelty can be met with focused resistance.

We’re in one of those moments. We can band together, take collective action, and change the paradigm. The consequences of not doing it are immense.

We need to talk about Trump’s threat to defund universities unless they arrest and expel protesters.

We’re watching classic fascistic institutional capture in real time and if this continues unabated we’re going to look up and live in a world without escape. The time to fight is now.

People are dying. Gay and trans people are being targeted daily. The government is being re-segregated. The richest man in the world is literally taking power at breakneck speed.

James Carville and other strategists see this as a game. The lives and fates of human beings don't factor into it.

If you can’t successfully message against this you don’t deserve another cent in fundraising and should go the way of the Whigs.
February 19, 2025 at 8:49 PM
The absolute gall of the Times for publishing this after spending years platforming every anti-trans voice in the country and pushing for moderates to turn their back on these people when they needed them most.

Shameful doesn’t cover it. I don’t know how they sleep at night.

You can chart the rightward movement in the country through Douthat’s columns and see how his willingness to go there has 1. Driven outrage sharing while 2. Leading moderate liberals down the rightward path.

That’s the other focus: creating permission structures for Right Wing radicalization.
January 17, 2025 at 2:41 PM
The king of this game is Ross Douthat, who is more than willing to coat whatever fascist Right Wing idea is popular among the MAGA crowd with some intellectual polish.

So, when the Times publishes something calling for the takeover of Canada, people are like, have you seen this shit in The Times?!?

*Stares in the Bush Administration ignored warnings about Bin Laden and Iran Contra and Nixon and Reagan both engaged in treason to win elections and pretty much every national security decision for the last 70 years*

“In the place of the old class conflict, there’s a new educational divide.”

No. It’s still class conflict. And watching mainstream media twist reality into knots trying to obscure the class war into something else that’s almost undefinable and unaddressable is telling and repulsive.

Americans should notice how our media reports on Milei’s regime in Argentina, praising how his austerity helped business and just casually noting how bad life has gotten for the average person

This is what’s coming for us. Capitalist celebration of a demolished standard of living

Totally normal, not at all scammy economy we’ve got going.

It’s not easy to do, but it’s time to realize that many people were eager to believe Right Wing grifters and GOP-castoffs were on their side.

It was a comforting fantasy that took their money and pushed politics to the Right. It might feel bad to admit, but it will help in the long run.

Ah. There we go.
