But honestly I find that when I meditate it's not the imagery that needs to go away, it's the words, the little chatterbox describing and analyzing my past, present, and future. I'd probably do better just meditating on Apple!

Right? I can smell it, almost taste it. I can see my hand reaching out to grab it off a sun-dappled branch while a robin sings nearby. It's a full sensory experience. I'm sad for folks who don't have that kind of inner experience, but I'm sure there are pros and cons to it.
