I am childless and middlr aged and think state support for making having kids affordable is an a-ok priority.

I just don't want any of us to be talked about like livestock because I read the Handmaid's Tale in the 80s in 7th grade and that shit sure sticks as formative reading.

The shitty thing is the rhetoric. The whole issue now firmly in the gross reproductive control conversation and not the child tax credit conversation and that's a swampy nasty dynamic with consequences.

Reframing really matters here.

I banned this kind of size-as-sin, I'm-so-bad-for-fries talk in my house when I was younger. The rule was take bad food and body talk on the porch.

The temple of my soul got better sleep and felt less terrible so Dr. Oz can hang out on the deck in January and leave me the heck alone.

Sweet potato baked, mashed. Swirl in cream, salt, Sriracha, maple syrup (the real stuff). Spread in baking dish. Dot with butter. Bake until browned on top.
