Historical fiction about Amelia Earhart & another contemporary pilot. 📚💙

This triggered my deep seated rage at academia & beyond of the advisor/mentor taking credit for the work of the student. It was a good story though. 📚💙 🎨

This is the 3rd book in a series & I bet there could be more coming. It’s a rekindled romance, the tension being mostly stubbornness & lack of communication. Nice read though with generally likable characters. 📚💙

I liked this one, it was a short story that felt like a complete story. A bit sad though. 💙📚

This was sooo good. An isolated community in a post apocalyptic world realize that their current situation isn’t long term sustainable & send a party out to find a solution. 📚💙

The only snowman we got to play with. ☹️ it’s frustrating that it doesn’t get snowy where we live anymore. Now our most common winter experience is 38° & raining. My 3 1/2 year old has not gotten to build a snowman in real life yet.

There’s a micro trend in books being published that are from Japan & Korea called “healing fiction.” I’ve read a 1/2 dozen or so this year & they’re all really nice nice, gentle, calm books to read.

I’ve been vibing with anthologies this year & the ones by @weneeddiversebooks.bsky.social are always great, short stories by a bunch of authors I like & I get to discover some new ones too. In this set, I really liked Rebecca Roanhorse’s story & Samira Ahmed’s too.

I’ve never read this before so I figured I needed to know the references others make. It was thoroughly depressing because I can totally see the ways something like this could happen.

My thanksgiving shirt, though pumpkin pie rejected as an option by MIL, who turned the heat UP to a balmy 65° for our visit. 🙄☹️ 🥧

I made apple pie with a cheddar crust. Got rave reviews. I used golden delicious & cortland. The recipe was Betty Crocker for the filling & Martha Stewart for the cheddar crust. #BakeSky 🍎🍏🥧

My reading wrap up from @thestorygraph.com for October. I try not to put it up until I’ve posted the books I read but then I realized I had gone several past it 🤷‍♀️.

I think graphic novels are such a good way to tell history, especially from an individual’s perspective. I wish he was still around for all the reasons, including that he could finish telling his story this way. 💡📚💙

This is about the man who spearheaded the passage of the Pure Food Act & the eventual creation of the FDA. Given the current state of things, it was pretty disheartening to read, but still very interesting. 💡📚💙

This was an interesting multiverse story where the characters are aware of it but only get little glimpses. I think when I was using the reader to narrate it, it made it a little confusing to keep the characters straight though.

I read this for the #MassCenterForTheBook October challenge of a book published by a Massachusetts press. Each chapter was like a different essay & some of them were really good, though some of them felt more like stream of consciousness.

Went to Costco Plus World Market & secured some Christmas crackers & stocking stuffers. The 3 year old’s favorite is Kuromi so I was bullied into buying this. I do appreciate the #KuromifyTheWorld though. I switch between Chococat & Aggretsuko being my favorite.

This is the third installment in the trilogy, though I think the door was left open for more if the author wants to. Like the others, this was an enjoyable historical romance, this one being an enemies to lovers romp. 🌶️📚💙

Channeled my inner midwesterner & made Chex mix & Rice Krispie treats. My Chex mix usually has whatever I have on hand to add in so this time there is gardettos garlic chips, pretzels, potato sticks, French’s fried onions & Trader Joe’s sweet & salty umami crunchies.
