Lol, as an American (unfortunately), one of my peeves is "underneath of". It's regional, which is another factor that complicates things. English is crazy and I love it.

I wonder how that happened in the evolution of the English language! Seems like an odd thing to have changed so specifically. Can you think of other examples where the emphasis has shifted so much?

I played a wikipedia game last night. Do the "random article" option and read until the third link, go there and repeat. What started as a list of Yugoslavian ambassadors ended up as a lengthy breakdown of "institutions". Thrilling stuff.
