Donald Trump is older than color TVs and was clearly sundowning during his rallies and the debate, but it never “stuck” in the narrative cause the boards of directors of the major media companies sit on boards of other companies and they wanted a 3% Q4 stock bump.
A way I can tell this is the case is that the Democrats responded pretty comprehensively to "is the president old" being the number one issue of the campaign and the result was that the issue disappeared from all coverage once that was the case.
