Great point by the Episcopal father here: this is specifically condemning the things that Jesus Christ literally ordered us to do.

the specific language of “break bread with” and “visit him in prison” is so striking to me, used in condemnation this way

DHS includes a bunch of false and defamatory statements in their tweet about Kilmar Abrego Garcia as they prepare to send him to Uganda.

This is great advice: it is actually possible to just say "no" if your boss asks you to do something illegal. Better than doing it, even!

If you're asked to do someting potentially illegal at work: know that if you do so, you're the one could well have to face consequences.

A few more stories about when engineers went along with illegal asks, and are now in hot water: blog.pragmaticengineer.com/asked-to-do-...

Years ago I learned this lesson when a colleague had someone break into their house and steal both their computer and the backup drive sitting next to it. I've had on-site and cloud backups since.

No, pre-coffee self, `git rm --cached package.json` is not the same as `git rm --cached package-lock.json`. Once you figure that out, you'll know why you've struggled with builds all day.

Can't believe that, of all things, JIRA doesn't have built-in support for not counting weekends in ticket aging. If someone picks up a ticket on Friday, it shouldn't be 3 days old by Monday.

How did I manage to break my rvm config in tmux somehow between Friday and today?

Just good enough that I had a great time

No RSI in the future, which is an essential adaptation to a world made of blinkenlights.

The future uses trackballs. The future believes in ergonomics.

This isn't like the theme to Star Trek II, this is exactly the theme. It's amazing how much Horner borrowed from himself.

It's like actors in this movie were promised a moving death scene as part of their contract

There's this returning character in the space station bar who's basically a French clown building houses out of cards. He's fantastic.

Some things are shot on a Hollywood backlot, but this "planet "was shot just in the hills behind someone's apartment.

"We're gonna crash!"
"Nope, we're probably gonna burn up before we get anywhere near the crash."
This is amazing screenplaymanship.

There really was a deep belief in the defensive turret gun in the 1980s, huh. Like, just defensive turrets shooting down enemies in every direction. (Historically, they were useless when deployed by single aircraft not in a large formation.)

Never has anyone said "the board of directors is gonna love me" in a more evil way. This b-movie really did anticipate the future, didn't it.

Oh, I get it, the hero Hawk (fka Armand Assante from the back, Ron Jeremy from the front) is really a type of Mal Reynolds, not a type of Han Solo. Like, Mal + 20 years and nothing worked out on Serenity either.

Honestly, I figured this was going to be a weak re-cut of Battle Beyond the Stars, but this has a lot of interior sets and is overall a better movie, if not a Better Movie

OK, I've got a little free time and am going to finish this movie.

But Trump didn’t come from nowhere; he, and those who follow him, and the organizations he’s managed to pervert, were all created in our country before Trump took office. We can’t just go back; then we’ll only make another Trump. We need to move forward, make something better.

A WILD ONE: A man broke his leg during an arrest by ICE at a car wash south of L.A.

ICE has held him under 24/7 guard at a hospital, registering him under a pseudonym, for *37 days* without telling him why.

A judge has ordered his immediate release.
