One of the main reasons why Britain can’t have nice things now is because we had to set them on fire, to protect the careers of some of the worst people ever to serve in government and the shower of media twunts who faithfully repeated their bullshit. And they’re still going, now.

The main reason this is even an option for right wing wackos is that we mutilated and deformed the fuck out of the BBC, specifically to protect Alastair and Tony from the consequences of their choices and actions. We’re still doing that now, 20+ years later.

I think it’s also because the Dems have basically conceded on the shutdown now the elections are over. People were actually hoping they were taking a stand, turns out it was just an election strategy. Understand why they hate them so much

i genuinely find it creepy. a disciplinarian, anti intellectual, sadistic (& often masochistic) impulse hiding behind calls for politeness & civility. politics is not the correct arena in which to exercise these impulses. it is hurting & even killing people who did not & often cannot consent
