I'm sad that Tom Robbins left us today. I'll be thinking of him while I'm in LaConner next week.

(My photo from the parade in his honor in September 2023.)

Private schools don't have to provide a free appropriate education for special needs kids but our public school do. Kill the federal Dept of Ed and we'll go back to the time when special needs kids were discriminatorily denied an education.

Call local, state, and fed elected reps now.
No regrets

The best part of my day today was the Keith Haring exhibit at MoPOP!

I'm terribly sad that the worst kind of hateful "care" — in the form of a targeted attack — has found The City That Care Forgot.

Wishing peace and safety for New Orleans. ❤️⚜️

My top three favorite ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reads of 2024!

All are wonderfully imaginative and even managed to change the way I think about and see things.

The coolest thing I've seen recently: A Tlingit interpretation of the magic inherent to the Fremont Troll by artist Alison Marks! (On permanent display at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture.)

A note of hope for your mental health in the coming four years: Sarcasm is infinite. It regenerates. You can't use it up. So long as you breathe, so can you sarcast.

If nothing else, Congress would have to fund the new Department of Government Efficiency in the budget, which it also approves.

It's like telling Musk & Ramaswamy "I'm giving you a cool new job title for something that doesn't exist and that I can't create! But it sounds cool, doesn't it?"

DOGE is a joke! The power to establish federal agencies & depts is explicitly granted to Congress under Article I of the Constitution. To create a new dept, Congress must pass a bill defining the dept's structure, functions, & responsibilities; only then could the president sign that bill into law!

"The House voted 87-12 to approve the bill. If approved by the Senate and the governor, the measure would sunset the film incentive on June 30."

Quote of the Day:

"People speak of hope as if it is this delicate, ephemeral thing made of whispers and spider's webs. It's not. Hope has dirt on her face, blood on her knuckles, the grit of the cobblestones in her hair, and just spat out a tooth as she rises for another go." ~Matthew
